Director Emergency Services
 
The Emergency Department is a 38-bed Level III Trauma Center, and we are currently pursuing Level II designation.  We are a Primary Stroke Center, and we are accredited by the Society for Chest Pain Centers Cycle II with PCI.  We are currently the Medical Control for the City of Plano Fire Department/EMS.  The ED has approximately 41 FTEs consisting of Assistant Nurse Managers, a Nurse Clinician, Registered Nurses, EMT/Paramedics and Unit Clerks. 
 
The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and directing all functions of the Emergency Department in order to support the stated mission, vision and values of Medical Center of Plano and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and promote, advocate and support the nursing staff's primary commitment to protect the health, safety and rights of the individual, family or community.  The tasks and responsibilities include:
  • Effectively operates the Emergency Department
  • Continues the improvement of the department's processes and outcomes
  • Complies with hospital and corporate policies and procedures
  • Efficiently manages finances and resources
  • Promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction
  • Integrates the department services into the organization's overall plan for delivery of care and services
  • Manages personnel in the accomplishment of designated goals and the provision of nursing care and services.
  • Ensures that age and culturally appropriate care is given.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory and JCAHO requirements.
  • Implements cost-effective strategies in staffing and supply management decisions.
  • Assists staff in providing patient care and services as needed.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Qualifications:
 
  • Current licensure as an RN.
  • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider, ACLS required within six months of hire.
  • National specialty certification preferred (CEN). 
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required;  Masters Degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of clinical nursing experience; Emergency Services background required.
  • Experience in a Level II Trauma Center required; Level I Trauma experience preferred.
  • Must have at least 5 years of management experience.
