The Cancer Registrar maintains the hospital cancer registry according to accreditation standards of the ACS, and the needs of the medical staff, hospital and community. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary health information team.
Compiles and maintains records of hospitals patients treated for cancer to provide data for physicians and research studies, utilizing tumor registry data system: reviews hospital records to identify and compile patient data for use in cancer management program and to comply with government regulations. Review patient's medical record, abstracts and codes information, such as demographic characteristics, history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures and treatment, and enters data into computer. Contacts discharged patients, their families, and physicians to maintain registry with the follow-up information, such as quality of life and length of survival of cancer patients. Prepares statistical reports, narrative reports and graphic presentations of tumor registry data for use by hospital staff.

CTR, RHIA or RHIT and cancer registry experience required
